AI, the technology that every CEO is ready to thrust onto us, whether we want it or not is back with some pretty insane sports predictions. In fact, it isn’t even a prediction at all, it’s a bold statement on something that has happened, even though, it hasn’t. According to Google, not only does it predict tonight’s Monday night NFL matchup between the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens will be a notable game, but it also apparently knows who wins.
While searching for media to use in a related Detroit Lions story, which we will post below, I couldn’t help but notice something odd. Google’s vaunted AI overview didn’t just bring up the history between the Lions and the Ravens; it also knew the future results of their huge upcoming Monday Night Football match happening a few hours later tonight. This is what Google’s AI had to say about the outcome of tonight’s matchup.
The Lions and Ravens have not played each other in a Super Bowl; their most recent and notable game was on September 22, 2025, a Monday Night Football matchup where the Ravens defeated the Lions 31-27. This game was considered a potential Super Bowl preview between two strong teams.
As you can see from what I bolded, it has the Ravens beating the Lions in a closely contested matchup. Couldn’t help but laugh, as one of the most common complaints about Google’s use of AI, outside the whole, steal everybody’s ideas and then end their business thing they got going on, is the fact that it can be so utterly wrong on what it claims to know and state as fact.
Now, of course, there is always the possibility of a what-if scenario that could play out later tonight. What if AI is right? What if Baltimore beats Detroit 31-27? Well, in that case, maybe sports betters from all over will start looking to AI for predictions instead of retired players turned broadcasters, and many conspiracy theorists will use this to validate their favorite sports take, “The NFL is scripted.“
Only time will tell, as we are only a few hours away from the Monday Night action between the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions. Someone needs to ensure that AI didn’t steal that almanac.
