This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

GreedFall might’ve not reached the heights of other RPGs, but that doesn’t mean it was forgotten. On the contrary, it became a cult classic for many players due to its innovative art style, gameplay mechanics, and old-school RPG feel. Now, with the sequel, or prequel, on our doorsteps, gamers can’t wait to return to Teer Fradee. Thankfully, the wait won’t be long. Spider Studios has unveiled that GreedFall 2: The Dying World will begin its early access on September 24 for PC players, with an official release on all platforms in 2025.

Instead of moving the story forward, GreedFall 2: The Dying World will take players back to Teer Fradee’s roots once early access launches. According to the official information, PC players will experience the sequel/prequel’s first chapters of the main story. Set three years before the events of GreedFall, it’ll be interesting to see how the narrative impacts the one we’re already familiar with. Due to the old-school elements of the first game, we can expect some intricate mechanics that will shape the world around our characters. Yet, I can’t help but wonder how our actions will collide with the first game’s plot, assuming that’s what’ll happen.

As someone who enjoyed the first entry of the series, I’m extremely excited for GreedFall 2. I feel it is a game that more people should try. Few games give us the player agency GreedFall does. And now, it seems the sequel is trying to capitalize on that and even expand on it. How everything will work remains a mystery, but I can’t wait to try it. If you haven’t delved into this universe, I strongly recommend trying GreedFall. Despite having released in 2019, it has aged quite well and brings interesting RPG mechanics to the table. So, if you’re looking for some old-school roleplaying fun, you can’t go wrong with this series.
