When a domino is knocked down, there is almost always a ripple effect that follows. Denying millions of Americans health care coverage will eventually cause one of those Americans to do something about it. That is what happened when a masked assassin took out UnitedHealthcare chief executive officer, Brian Thompson, and now that company is paying local Minnetonka police to patrol their headquarters around the clock.
In a story posted by user Kevinbevindevin on the R/Minnesota Reddit page, which discusses a news story told by ABC 5 KSTP, police have been seen and monitored being parked near the entrance of the main building for three months.
According to records, they have paid the city of Minnetonka nearly $150,000 for around-the-clock protection. Dave Skinner, who runs NTS Security, made the following statement on the matter.
When you’re looking for some immediate assistance, [the police are] going to be your first call. When the murder of Brian Thompson happened, guys like myself within the industry started receiving phone calls from these companies looking for protective services, everybody that I know in the industry was immediately working and scrambling to get people in place.
Many people in the Reddit thread used unkind words toward the insurance company.
“It’d be a shame if some of those fine peace loving citizens, armed to the t***, were to be denied care.”
“They probably just denied care to more people to pay for this”
“Cops are paid by tax dollars. They should not be doing side jobs for billionaires. Protecting teslas is a f***** joke.”
“They’re gonna need them to protect themselves from their shareholders”
Violence is of course, never the answer, but people are tired of their lives being manipulated and controlled by billionaires who care little for their fellow man and only care about increasing the profits for their greedy shareholders.
