Greg Capullo’s secret Marvel project has finally been revealed. The legendary comic book artist is teaming up with Jonathan Hickman for Wolverine: Revenge. This comes after the artist teased a Marvel project last year. The new miniseries will feature the titular mutant facing off against some notable villains. The blood-pumping series will not only allow Wolverine to let loose, but also Capullo. The artist will delve heavily into classic Wolverine action to tell a bloody new story.

Taking note from Marvel’s current Blood Hunt event, Wolverine: Revenge will also come in a “Red Band” edition. This edition will show off Greg Capullo’s bloodier and gorier battles in the story. These editions will also come with additional pages and violence set to max. Naturally, these editions will come in a sleeve/bag that will keep younger readers from peeking at any of the violence.

While the upcoming post-Krakoa Wolverine series from Saladin Ahmed and Martin Coccolo will connect to the From the Ashes relaunch, this miniseries will not. Instead, it will tell an action-packed story of Wolverine going toe-to-toe with some vicious foes, all bloodily drawn by Greg Capullo. Some of the fights in the series include Wolverine taking on classic villains like Sabretooth, Omega Red, and even Deadpool.

Greg Capullo’s Return

Greg Capullo shared his thoughts on returning to Marvel for this miniseries. Acknowledging he has finally come home to the publisher, the artist is ready to raise some Hell. Of course, who better to raise a little hell with than Jonathan Hickman. In honor of this collaboration, Marvel is letting the duo “off the leash.” They are bringing a story like no other with the most vicious and punishing Wolverine story in Marvel history.

Meanwhile, Hickman is equally excited for this partnership. The writer shares it is a privilege to work with a legend like Capullo. The two wanted to make sure this miniseries took readers on a high-octane, no-hold-barred story that is a celebration of Wolverine and Capullo. Hopefully, they succeeded.

Wolverine: Revenge is on sale 08/21.
