GTA 6 Hackers Threaten Leak of ‘Large Collection’ of Data As ‘Demands Had Not Been Met’

Any mention of a GTA 6 leak is enough to set the internet on fire, and that possibility is now back on the table. Rockstar Games is dealing with its second hacking incident. This time, the group behind the attack is openly threatening to release stolen data. While it’s still unclear what and how much information they actually have, the New York-based studio could be dealing with another PR nightmare.

As previously reported by CybersecGuru via Kotaku, the hacker group ShinyHunters claimed to have breached Rockstar’s cloud servers and obtained a ‘large collection’ of data. The group allegedly accessed the systems through a third-party service and posted this threat on its dark website:

Rockstar Games, your Snowflake instances were compromised thanks to Anodot.com. Pay or leak. This is a final warning to reach out by 14 Apr 2026 before we leak, along with several annoying (digital) problems that’ll come your way. Make the right decision, don’t be the next headline.

In response, Rockstar confirmed to Kotaku that a breach had indeed occurred. Nevertheless, the company downplayed the situation, stating that it involved only a ‘limited amount’ of ‘non-material information’ and would not impact its operations or players.

Now, speaking with the BBC, ShinyHunters seems ready to escalate things further as the April 14 deadline arrives. It said the stolen data will be published online after its demand ‘had not been met,’ suggesting negotiations have either stalled or been ignored entirely.

Still, it’s not clear what kind of data could be leaked by ShinyHunters, as the group has not publicly detailed the contents they have. While there is a chance for another massive GTA 6 leak, the breach seems to be focused on internal corporate assets. That means contracts, financial documents, marketing plans, and other business-related files.

Nothing regarding Rockstar Launcher player accounts, but it could still be a nightmare scenario for Rockstar. In a worst-case scenario, it could even expose future GTA 6 roadmaps, similar to what happened during Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2‘s infamous leak.

As you might remember, this isn’t the first time a cyber drive-by has hit Rockstar. In 2023, Arion Kurtaj, a member of the cybercrime group Lapsus$, breached the company and leaked early GTA 6 footage online. This forced Rockstar into damage control and showcased the game early. At the time of writing, Rockstar has yet to respond to ShinyHunters’ threat.
