The Guinness World Records also reported that the Canadian star statistically outperforms his contemporaries, with no one else even coming close.
“There’s two new world records for @theweeknd as he has become the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on @Spotify,” the report noted.
According to Guinness World Records, the Weeknd’s “Die For You” remix featuring Ariana Grande caused his streaming numbers to rise.
His Starboy album included Die For You, which was first released in 2016. The remix reached its highest point on the Billboard Top 100 at the time of its release in February 2023.
According to Guinness World Records, The Weeknd has 114 million Spotify subscribers as of March 20, 2023. This is more than Miley Cyrus, who is in second position with 82.4 million.
The Weeknd’s Previous Records
The Weeknd and Miley are followed by Shakira (81.6 million), Ariana Grande (80.6 million), and Taylor Swift (80.2 million). In addition to the list are Rihanna (78.5 million) and Ed Sheeran, who is the closest male competitor (77.5 million).
This will not be the first time The Weeknd has earned Guinness World Records titles. His first Guinness World Records title was in 2016.
He received awards for having the most-streamed album on Spotify in 2015 and spending the most weeks straight in the Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 among solo male artists.
The Weeknd has had success with many songs, including Save Your Tears, Blinding Lights, After Hours, I Feel It Coming, Love Me Harder, and Out of Time.
