Gwent: The Witcher Card Game‘s Lunar New Year Festival event is live now.

It’s been a good few months for fans of The Witcher. Netflix’s adaptation of the source material has been a hit, CD Projekt signed a new deal with Andrzej Sapkowski, and now Gwent gets another event.

The Lunar New Year Festival event has begun today and runs until the 7th of February. During this time, players have a chance to win Red Envelopes by winning matches. These Red Envelopes contain “a selection of in-game gifts, including a cardback, borders, portraits, a player title, and resources — Ore and Scraps.”

There will also be a new Lunar themed game board so you can “make it a celebration you — and your opponents — will never forget.” As well as these Red Envelopes and game boards, Gwent’s in-game store has also been updated. Until the 7th of February, the Lunar New Year Bundle and the Prosperity packs can be purchased. The Lunar New Year bundle contains:

  • Lunar Premium Cardback
  • Lucky Avatar
  • Golden Coin Border
  • The Lucky One Title
The Prosperity Pack includes 25 ‘ultimate premium kegs,’ which have “gorgeously animated cards, a powerful legendary card, and a shipment of Meteorite Powder.” Card kegs are essentially the loot-boxes of Gwent, which contain five random cards inside. These packs can only be purchased on PC and iOS because Gwent’s console support has ended.

There is also a 30% sale on faction card kegs – different kegs will be discounted each day of the event.

On top of Gwent’s Lunar New Year Festival event starting today, Netflix’s The Witcher soundtrack was released on digital platforms today. You can now listen to all of Jaskier’s ballads while playing Gwent!
