Gypsy Rose Blanchard is officially on the road. In her latest update, the Life After Lock Up star announced that she has finally gotten her driver’s license at the age of 33. To celebrate, Blanchard shared a video of herself behind the wheel while getting some errands done. Of course, fans couldn’t be happier for her. At the same time, they couldn’t help but feel worried after noticing some alarming details in her vlog.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Driving Video Concerns Fans
On Thursday, Feb. 27, Gypsy Rose Blanchard shared a video on Instagram revealing the exciting milestone. “Hi everybody! So, I’ve got some big news,” she said while flashing a big smile to the camera. “I am now, officially, a Louisiana driver!”
As part of her announcement, Blanchard said she would be taking fans along with her for a drive. She said she had to buy some supplies for her and her daughter, Aurora, at her local Dollar General and thought it would be fun to document the trip with her GoPro. As she was driving, Blanchard explained the story about how she came to get her driver’s license.
She said she took part of her test in December and the rest in January. Although Blanchard found the driving portion of her exam “pretty easy,” she admitted her skills behind the wheel could still use some work. “The only thing I need to work on is parking and turning into lanes or streets,” she explained. She specifically mentioned needing to focus on not pulling in too fast. Other than that, Blanchard called herself a “pretty good driver.”
As if Gypsy Rose Blanchard getting her driver’s license wasn’t exciting enough, the ex-con revealed she had also bought her first car.
Looking Out For Her Safety
Fans congratulated her on the big achievement. Since she was new to the road, they also took the opportunity to offer her some advice. During Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s driving video, they noticed that she had taken too long to close and lock her doors. So, they urged her to be more mindful of her surroundings moving forward. “Girl close that door and lock it before you buckle up,” one person wrote. “Always hit that lock button first,” another said.
Some comments were a little harsher on Blanchard. “Self awareness has left the chat. She needs to be more careful,” read another comment. “She took way too long to close and lock her door after getting into the car.”
Apart from delaying locking her door, Blanchard’s followers expressed worries over her filming while driving. They thought it would distract her too much, especially as a new driver. On top of that, fans urged her to adjust her seat so it wouldn’t be too close to the steering wheel. They also reminded her to get a car seat for her baby whenever the pair runs errands together.
Experiencing Many Firsts
Getting a driver’s license has been just one of the many milestones Gypsy Rose Blanchard has recently experienced. After leaving prison in December 2023, the ex-con celebrated posting her first selfie on social media, which she dubbed her “first selfie of freedom.” She also learned how to cook, ride a bike, and how to use a laptop.
Her biggest milestone by far, however, has been becoming a mother. In December 2024, Blanchard and her boyfriend, Ken Urker, welcomed a daughter named Aurora Raina.
In a preview for the new season of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, Blanchard said she was determined to be the best mom to Aurora despite everything that’s happened in her life.
The second season of her Lifetime show premieres on Monday, March 10.
