This time, hackers have gotten creative and are using AI to mimic the tech billionaires. Over the weekend, viral videos showed crosswalk signals across California reciting hilarious messages.
A video posted on TikTok with the caption, “Palo Alto has officially entered its Elon Musk musical era,” showed an unknown person seen pressing the crosswalk, triggering the recording to play. At first, it issued the usual command, “Wait.” However, moments later, the crosswalk proceeded to play a recording of Musk saying:
“Hi, this is Elon Musk. Welcome to Palo Alto, the home of Tesla engineering. You know the saying money can’t buy happiness and yeah, okay, I guess that’s true; God knows I’ve tried. But it can buy a cyber truck and that’s pretty sick right? F*ck I’m so alone.”
The person recording the video laughed aloud at the hilarious Elon Musk imitation. Another similar video surfaced on Reddit with the caption, “Zuckerberg took over traffic lights on El Camino.” The citizen behind the camera waved at the crosswalk, which triggered another AI-generated recording of the Facebook founder’s voice.
“Hi this is Mark Zuckerberg. Real ones call me the Zuck,” it read aloud. “You know, its normal to feel uncomfortable or even violated as we forcefully insert AI into every facet of your conscious experience. And I just want to assure you, you don’t need to worry because there’s absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. Anyway, see ya!”
Several social media users reacted to the viral videos, praising the hackers for being so creative in their mockery. One user commented: “Bless all the clever patriotic hackers putting these announcements at the CA crosswalks. 💪🏼 🖥️,” and another replied: “The resistance is so damn creative 😂.”
Yet another user who found it hilarious remarked, “😂😂😂 I am loving the pettiness 😂😂😂.”
On the other hand, others believe that using AI could prove detrimental in the long run. One user commented, “Whether it’s Zuckerberg or not, we all know it’s what’s happening, and it’s f*cking scary. AI will be our downfall.”
The use of AI as a tool of mockery is increasingly becoming popular among citizens. In February, President Donald Trump and Elon Musk were the subjects of a scandalous AI-generated clip that went viral online.
The clip capitalized on Musk and Trump’s close relationship and was set in the Oval Office. In the video, Musk was seen sitting on the president’s seat while Trump caressed and sucked his toes. The video was played in a loop on the Department of Housing and Urban Development building in Washington D.C., and the monitors had to be unplugged to stop it.
