If anyone was ever stuck between a rock and a hard place, it was Sisyphus. Rolling a boulder uphill for eternity sounds worse than a night in Silent Hill, so it’s understandable that Zagerus might want to free the former king from bondage. Supergiant rightfully gets praise for its characters in Hades, and Sisyphus (and Bouldy) are huge reasons why. Even though Prince Z has an entire Underworld worth of enemies to occupy him, he can still make time to lend a helping hand to those in need. Here’s how to free Sisyphus in Hades.
Hades End of Torment Quest Guide
(Updated on July 30, 2024 – updated images and streamlined quest steps)
Freeing Sisyphus and completing the End of Torment quest in Hades requires more work than just snapping up Boons, but it’s relatively simple. To begin freeing Sisyphus, players must gain his favor by providing 6 Bottles of Nectar and 3 Ambrosia. Zagreus must then ask this question when interacting with Sisyphus: “Sisyphus, I know you tend to be in remarkably good spirits, all things considered, but there must be something I can do to help with your predicament, isn’t there?” Here’s what you need to do next:
- Make sure you’ve spoken to Bouldy at least once previously
- Purchase access to the Administrative Chamber from the House Contractor.
- Speak to Megaera (5 hearts or greater) and Hades about the situation regarding the Shades
- Speak to Nyx (5 hearts or greater) about the Administrative chamber
- Converse with Nyx again to get the location of Sisyphus’s file
- Retrieve Sisyphus’s file from the Administrative Chamber
- Purchase “Knave-King’s Sentance” from the House Contractor for 4 Diamonds
Speak to Sisyphus one more time to deliver the good news of his freedom. Doing so will complete the End of Torment questline. Even though Sisyphus decides not to move on to greener pastures, it’s nice knowing he’ll still have Bouldy around to keep him company.
