The latest Halo TV series trailer has been unveiled at the 2021 Game Awards. This is a full trailer following a previous tease by Paramount and reconfirmed the release date on Paramount Plus of sometime in 2022.
The Halo TV series, first announced in 2018, will star Pablo Schreiber of American Gods and Den of Thieves fame as the iconic armored super-soldier, Master Chief, and will have Jen Taylor reprise her role from the games as his AI companion, Cortana. It will also star Natascha McElhone as Dr. Catherine Halsey, the creator of both Cortana and the Spartan super-soldier program, as well as several other cast members seen briefly throughout the trailer, including Shabana Azmi, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, Danny Sapani, and Bokeem Woodbine.
Although the trailer itself does not provide a full overview of what exactly the season will entail, which Paramount has gone on to say in the past that the story will “will take place in the universe” of the Halo games and the Master Chief face off against the alien forces of the Covenant. However, following the recent shift to production on Paramount Plus as a result of the pandemic, it is not clear if the series will continue to follow an original story or do something else. The official description for the series reads:
“Halo – based on the iconic
Xbox franchise, Halo’s epic universe and a cast of characters come to life in this new original drama series. In the new television adaptation, Halo will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Halo will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure, and a richly imagined vision of the future.”
