Halsey has finally broken her silence about why she has been away from the spotlight for so long. The talented singer dropped her last album, If I Can’t Have Love, I want Power, in 2021. Since then, she has been relatively low-key, prompting judgment from fans about her fading music career. However, with her fifth studio album around the corner, Halsey is sharing the private battles she has been fighting behind the scenes.
In a recent Instagram post, the Bad At Love songstress confessed she has been dealing with a secret health battle. “Long story short, I’m Lucky to be alive. short story long, I wrote an album,” she captioned the post, which had The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Lupus Research Alliance tagged. In the upload’s first clip, Halsey while at home, rubbed her calf as though in pain. She lined up several bottles of medication in front of her and groaned while massaging her body. “I feel like an old lady,” she told the camera, before adding:
“I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick. At 30, I’m having a rebirth and I’m not gonna be sick and I’m gonna look super hot and have so much energy and just get to re-do my twenties in my thirties.”

The 29-year-old was then seen in the second video telling the camera that it was “Day 1 of treatment.” The upload also featured several heartbreaking compilations of an emotional Halsey in the hospital. True to her caption, Halsey’s latest single, The End, dives deep into her health issues. The lyrics of the track, which is the first single from her upcoming album, read:
“Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick. Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks. And then they lay it on me. And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain. And I don’t like to complain, but I’m saying sorry.”
Halsey Receives An Outpouring Of Love After Diagnosis Revelation
Following her announcement, a throng of fans trooped to Halsey’s comment section to send her well-wishes. One fan wrote, “I love you so much🥺❤️ you deserve all the blessings coming your way and you are so strong.” Another penned, “Oh angel we love you & support you so dearly! Thank you for sharing something so personal with us.” A third fan remarked, “Omg. And the fact that you’re still going strong with your family, About Face, and a new album. We don’t deserve you.”
Others, however, had a bone to pick with the critics who shamed Halsey for not releasing music. An angry follower declared, “Hope everyone who gave her shit for not being chronically online feels terrible. Chronically ill and she’s still giving the world every piece of her.” A similar comment read, “I hope y’all feel sorry for the judgments and sh!t you’ve been throwing on H. We all fight our own battles.”
Halsey is yet to give more details about her new album, but fans are already giving it all the love ahead of its release.
