Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of betraying pal Tyler Perry in the wake of a heated sexual abuse lawsuit filed against him in California. The billionaire director and producer became embroiled in a $260 million lawsuit days back after The Oval actor Derek Dixon accused him of workplace sexual harassment, sexual assault, and battery, among others. Although Tyler’s lawyer, Matthew Boyd, quickly debunked these allegations as part of a carefully fabricated scam, fans remained divided. While some keep banking on his innocence, others have cast daggers at the director as the latest high-profile figure whose abuse of power to satiate his sexual perversion had been exposed.
Amid these divided opinions, many sought some form of conviction from those within Tyler’s Hollywood circle willing to rise in his defense. However, known pals like Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry have seemingly turned a blind eye to Tyler Perry’s latest scandal, most likely in a bid to detach themselves from a potential “guilty by association” scenario in case of an unfavorable outcome for the film mogul.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Criticized for Betraying Tyler Perry

Critics have especially slammed Harry and Meghan, who have been known to gush about their closeness to Tyler, who is also godfather to their 4-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibeth. Speaking to Fox News Digital, royal expert Hilary Fordwich slammed the couple for withholding support for the 55-year-old when it most mattered, after leeching off their relationship in the past. Hilary divulged,
“Instead of offering their stalwart support as good friends would who even lived in his home, this silence is a clear demonstration of… a total lack of moral courage.”
Going further, Hilary noted that their silence “to avoid entanglement in scandal” could wind up working against them. According to her, while the Sussex couple may consider it a safe option to back off given their own “precarious standing” in Hollywood and royal circles, this decision would have a bad stench in the long run. Hilary explained that regardless of what choices they make in the Tyler Perry scandal, it was bound to backfire on Harry and Meghan.
On one end, distancing themselves from Tyler Perry to now protect their brand makes them seem “opportunistic and ungrateful,” even if the claims against him are eventually proven. However, if the mogul is eventually exonerated, he would consider their lack of support a betrayal, “further damaging their credibility among friends and potential allies.”
Tyler’s Friendship With the Sussexes

Harry and Meghan’s relationship with Tyler Perry dates back to 2020, when the royal couple made the shocking decision to step back from their duties as senior royals and move to the United States. At the time, the film director backed the couple fully, even offering up his palatial Los Angeles home to them to stay briefly until they acquired their Montecito abode.
The two wound up enlisting Tyler to become their daughter’s godfather, following her birth in 2021. Since then, Meghan has fondly spoken of Tyler, most recently, admitting she considers him her “sounding board” for ideas in her entrepreneurial journey. The entertainment genius has also mentioned his ties to the Sussexes in previous interviews. Given this closeness, one would expect the exiled royals to stand up for their pal in his lowest of times, albeit as an indication that they had zero doubt in the morals of a man they considered befitting to become their daughter’s godfather.
