The original trio of heroes from the wizarding world of the Harry Potter movie franchise will reunite once more for an HBO Max special: Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. According to a report from Variety, the Harry Potter stars, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, will join the director of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Chris Columbus, as well as other cast members from all eight of the Harry Potter movies. Together, the cast and crew will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sorcerer’s Stone movie, which was released this month way back in 2001.
The Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special will premiere on HBO Max on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2021. According to HBO Max, the special will “tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations. The special will also air on TV on TBS and Cartoon Network in the spring of 2022, before the release of Warner Bros.’ latest Harry Potter adjacent series: Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
While the list of Harry Potter stars joining Return to Hogwarts is not set in stone, the cast is currently set to include numerous fan favorites, such as Tom Felton, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Issacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, James and Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart.

An exclusive first-look at the Return to Hogwarts special will debut during the premiere of the Harry Potter quiz competition, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, on November 28 on TBS and Cartoon Network. The competition series is hosted by Helen Mirren and will take place as a four-part event. Fans will compete on the series to take home the Tournament of Houses championship trophy and receive all the glory that comes with being Harry Potter superfans.
