Traditions are what make the holidays so special. Every family has their own unique, albeit sometimes quirky, ways to usher in the season. For those who haven’t experienced those, it can be somewhat of a culture shock. This was the case for one newcomer celebrating Thanksgiving for the first time with a family in Hawaii. What you’re about to see isn’t a deleted scene from “Get Out”… But it is one of the best Thanksgiving pranks ever seen on TikTok.
Most families open their Thanksgiving meals by giving thanks and saying grace. While this typically consists of a prayer, one family went the extra mile to spook their new guest. As the man looks on in both horror and shock, the family chants, in the most monotone voices, the lyrics to Flo Rida’s “Low.” “Apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur, the whole club was lookin’ at her,” the family chants in a solemn tone.
The person recording focuses on the guest as confusion crosses his features. “She hit the floor, next thing you know, shorty got low, low, low, low, low…” the family continues in cult-like unison. Laughter eventually breaks the prank, and everyone unclasps their hands, the family’s guest looking relieved. Viewers on TikTok are giving the prank a 10/10, calling it “Get Out” and “Midsommer.”
“Bro was like ‘Oh lord, this is one of those white people horror movies,'” one TikTok user comments. Another says, “He thought this was GET OUT.” Others commented on his expression the whole time, saying he was sure it was some cult activity. “He was trying to plan his escape, I can see it in his worried eyes,” another user says. The best part of the video, for some, was that he actually got low when the family around him started singing that part of the song.
“Poor guy thought he was about to be sacrificed to Get Low of all things,” one TikTok user jokes. As more viewers shared praise of the hilarity, one user provided the perfect end to this version of the Thanksgiving dinner prayer. “In the name of Flo Rida, the son and the holy ghost…amen.”
