HBO can’t be blamed of resting on their laurels and relying on Game of Thrones. It seems like the network wants to have a strong line up with a spread of shows. This spread of new shows includes Insecure in addition to Big Little Lies later this year.
Based on the novel of the same name, Big Little Lies is a mini-series created by David E Kelley. IMDb has the following synopsis;
“While Madeline and Celeste take new in town single mom Jane under their wing, none of them realizes how the arrival of Jane and her inscrutable little boy will affect them all. Big little lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, schoolyard scandal, and the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves just to survive.”
Furthermore, in December, HBO gave us a trailer to keep us busy;
In addition to this, with just over a month to go, we now have a poster for the show;
This show looks to be the Grand Budapest Hotel of TV due to the all-star cast. In addition to Kidman, Witherspoon and Woodley there is also Alexander Skarsgård, Laura Dern, Adam Scott and Zoë Kravitz.
Of course, since this is HBO we’re talking about, there will be nudity. In an interview with Elle, Kidman talks about a shower scene with her character;
“So many of the bruises you see on me aren’t fake. I had to do a shower scene where you would see a lot of them, and I asked them not to put makeup on me. It needed to be pretty raw and out there,” said Kidman.”
The first episode of Big Little Lies is due to be broadcast on HBO on February 19th.
