The unofficially titled “Battle of Winterfell” is only a few days away. The prelude to this battle felt like the calm before the storm, where most of our characters got to have one final moment before they head into the Great War ahead of them. With the White Walkers at their door, many fans believe that anyone in Winterfell could meet their end this Sunday night. It is Game of Thrones, after all. This series has been known to swerve fans by killing off main characters in the past. HBO has released a few photos from the upcoming episode. You can see them all down below:
From the images above, things aren’t looking too good for the living. Jon Snow and Sansa Stark both looked troubled in these images, only giving more fuel to the theories that Theon could die in the upcoming episode. It is cool to see both Brienne and Jaime on the front lines and fighting together.
One could only hope that both survive the Battle of Winterfell but that’s unlikely. Brienne has just been knighted by Jaime and by achieving one of her lifelong goals, she even cracked a smile. As anyone who has ever seen Game of Thrones knows, happiness leads to death in this series. In Jaime’s case, he may squeak out of the fight alive due to his unresolved story with Cersei. But, when he asked Bran about what happens after the Great War, the Three-Eyed Raven gave him an ominous answer: “How do you know there is an afterwards?”. This could signal that the White Walkers will make it out on top by the end of the HBO series but this line could also be talking about Jaime specifically. Either way, it seems that we are in store for an epic episode this week.
Game of Thrones season 8, episode 3 will air this Sunday on HBO at 9 PM EST. This will be the longest episode of the final season, spanning a total of 1 hour and 22-minutes.
