Fans will need to be patient as dates for returning shows get pushed further out. Today, HBO has unveiled that Euphoria season 3 is coming for a 2025 release. With the SAG-AFTRA strike stretching out due to studios not meeting their needs, everything is either getting delayed or productions getting pushed. As it is toward the end of the year, the whole process should take much of 2024 to film. So, fans should not wait for a more definitive release date to see Rue (Zendaya) again.
HBO Plans Its 2025 Slate With Euphoria Season 3
Based on the Israeli series of the same name, the Sam Levinson series follows a group of teens in a fictional California town, East Highland. It follows drama in their relationships, the addiction of the protagonist that Zendaya embodies, and the individual struggles of these teenagers. It has been surrounded by acclaim and controversy due to its portrayal of the high school experience.
Not much is known about the story of Euphoria season 3, but the HBO series has had some glimpses of what it could be. In an interview, Levinson told Elle that it will be a “film noir” that will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”
Fans have had two seasons and two specials, but it has been quiet since the finale last year. Euphoria season 3 will be expected to see the return of Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Eric Dane, Storm Reid, Colman Domingo, Austin Abrams, and Nika King. The series has lost some mainstays for various reasons, like the departure of Barbie Ferreira, the death of Angus Cloud, and the surprising final moment with Javon Walton in season 2.
The last year has seen much contention between studios and creatives. Recently, it was revealed that HBO CEO Casey Bloys had used an employee to make fake social media accounts to harass TV critics. He has since apologized. Much of the tension began with the now-ended WGA strike and the ongoing strike for SAG-AFTRA. The strikes were centered on various reasons, like a lack of residuals from streaming shows and movies and the use of AI that would replace writers and actors.
