Wandering through Central Park, you never quite know what you’ll stumble upon. From beautiful streams to unexpected wildlife encounters, the iconic park offers a little bit of magic around nearly every corner. With that in mind, a New York woman has recently gone viral for throwing acorns at a squirrel in a tree in Central Park. The amazing part? The squirrel actually catches the nut mid-air, and the wholesome interaction was caught on camera. The clip is circulating online right now.
Sporting a navy T-shirt and blue jeans, the woman is seen standing at the base of a large tree, tossing acorns up toward the branches above. At first, it’s unclear what she’s doing, but as the camera pans upward, the reason quickly becomes clear. Nestled in one of the tree’s knots above, a small gray squirrel can be seen trying to catch the acorns the woman is tossing up to it.
After a few failed tries, the fifth attempt finally lands perfectly, and the little squirrel snatches it out of the air. The squirrel wastes no time, happily nibbling on its newly caught treat, which brings an end to the brief clip. The sight of the squirrel catching its acorn is just too cute to handle, and as a result, the TikTok video has managed to accrue over 1.2M likes and almost 6k comments, at the time of writing.
As the adorable clip spreads online, viewers rushed to the comments to share their delight. On TikTok, one user joked, “He ordered Uber eats“, while another declared, “I love when animals understand when you’re being nice or help them😭💖”. Meanwhile, over on Reddit, one commenter penned, “Having a successful and positive interaction with a wild animal is one of the best feelings“. A fourth person expressed, “If this happened to me I’d never stop talking about it“.
