However, in a recent TikTok, a Florida woman had what was supposed to be a happy moment ruined by her own mother. In the video posted to the account @embracingembryo, viewers get a front-row seat to this horrible prank. The video has over 20K likes and 300K views, as this woman’s mother destroys her gender reveal party.
The TikTok starts off with the woman getting ready to finally find out the gender of her baby. The way the reveal is set up is that one person will pop a balloon, and whatever color is underneath is the gender of the baby. At first, the Florida mother is trying to get her daughter to pop the balloon. However, she would eventually have to end up doing it herself. Finally, once the balloon had been popped, the color underneath was blue, revealing that the woman was having a boy. Although that’s not where this story ends.

After the original excitement wears off, the woman double-checks the ultrasound image of the baby. Someone in the crowd then yells, “It’s a girl!” The group of people is then completely confused about what’s going on as the woman in the video walks away. It is then clarified that the woman’s own mother had switched the color on purpose as some kind of prank. The Florida mother allegedly wanted to have a boy, hence the slight disappointment after the fact.
The TikTok comment section was not having this, however. They went all in on the woman’s mother for this truly bad behavior. “Not only is this hurtful, it’s kind of a betrayal,” wrote one. “Why on earth would anyone do something like that?” asked another. “I don’t get how these parents find disappointing their kids so funny,” stated a commenter. Last but not least, the video’s caption stated, “My heart dropped.”
It is unknown as to why this Florida woman’s mother would do this to her own daughter. Whether she thought it would be funny or not, this is just unexpected behavior. Hopefully, this young woman will be able to move past this, as it was most likely very upsetting. A small joke or prank from time to time is nothing to worry about. However, cases like these, where the joke goes way too far, need to stop. Despite that, the important thing is that the Florida woman will be having another happy and healthy child.
