News of Henry Cavill quitting the DCEU have been greatly exaggerated.
According to a report from TMZ, there’s no conflict between Henry Cavill and the WB. Rather, the role of Superman has just not been discussed because there is no active project for the character.
Should a new Superman project be greenlit, Henry Cavill would reprise the role. To support this, the 35-year-old actor recently posted a cryptic Instagram video. In it, he wore a ‘Krypton’ t-shirt, presenting a Superman toy while a dramatic score played in the background.
His agent, Dany Garcia, also chimed in on Twitter, implying Cavill was not yet done with Superman:

Needless to say, the news has set the internet on fire.
So far, Henry Cavill has played the role in three movies. Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
The WB had to reevaluate their DCEU projects after the underwhelming financial and critical response to Justice League. The film lost the studio around $60 million.
The studio is putting much focus on a new Supergirl movie. Orien Uziel is penning the script and the search is on for a female director. Reed Morano is currently the frontrunner for that project.
A Man of Steel 2 project has been hinted at, but never fully realized. In 2017, Amy Adams (who plays Lois Lane in the DCEU) claimed that a script was in the works. However, DC movie producer Charles Rowan would later contradict her, claiming story ideas were still being discussed.
Geoff Johns, a prolific writer at DC, made it clear that DC producers were passionate about the character. Many fans feel that the Last Son of Krypton deserves another film to get his character right. Particularly so, given the polarising Man of Steel which many felt was too dark for a Superman film. Much praise was given to the performance of Henry Cavill, however.
Meanwhile, in DCEU casting drama, Ben Affleck is no longer Batman. He wrote the initial script for The Batman and was due to direct and star. However, it seems he’s chosen to leave the role completely. The film is being directed by Matt Reeves instead.
