The kingdom of Lucis is under attack by the militaristic Niflheim, who intend to steal the land’s magical Crystal. King Regis is forced to marry his son, Noctis, to princess Lunafreya, who is a captive of Niflheim, and accept their takeover. However, when it becomes clear nothing will stop the invasion, Regis dispatches a band of elite warriors called the Kingsglaive to defend the kingdom. Regis is played by Sean Bean, while Aaron Paul portrays the Kingsglaive’s leader, Nyx. Lunafreya will be voiced by Lena Headey.
Kingsglaive is the sixth Final Fantasy movie to be produced, following Legend of the Crystals (1994), The Spirits Within (2001), Unlimited (2001), Advent Children (2005), and Advent Children Complete (2005), which was an extended version of the original. FFXV’s digital version will become available on August 30, very soon after its theater run. The DVD and Blu-ray copies will appear in stores later this year on October 4.
