Crytek’s upcoming PvPvE shooter Hunt: Showdown has opened the floodgates over the last few weeks, releasing new gameplay footage and information about the horror shooter in droves. Somewhat lost in the shuffle was the news that Hunt: Showdown will get a period in Steam Early Access to help hammer out issues and gather community feedback to improve the game. It even has a Steam page now, complete with a new Steam trailer:
Every bit of new footage makes it look even more unnerving.
In a press release speaking about the Early Access period, Hunt: Showdown producer Fatih Özbayram said: “We believe strongly that community-driven development is crucial to creating a great online multiplayer experience. An Early Access release will allow us to get Hunt out to players as quickly as possible, to collect feedback, and to work closely with the community to continue to shape the direction of the game.”
In the same press release, Creative Director Magnus Larbrant stated what players can expect to see throughout Early Access: “We will be adding more gear, more monsters, more Hunters, more game modes, more traits, crafting, and further map variations throughout Early Access. We want to take the time to make Hunt the game we’ve always wanted to play.”
Hunt: Showdown will pit a few different two-player teams together to hunt down a monstrous creature, kill it, and escape with the bounty. Along the way, they will have to battle AI controlled monsters and keep an eye out for other teams. Characters can level up and gain new abilities between rounds, but death is also permanent, which will force players to stay on their toes at all times. A moment of sloppiness can mean hours of progress is reset.
Hunt: Showdown does not have a release date yet, but it seems like it the Early Access period will begin soon. Stay tuned for more information on the game as it becomes available.
