Recent reports allege, that Nickelodeon has decided to revive one of its’ popular animated series, Hey Arnold! The movie is set for a television release with dates yet to be confirmed by studio executives.
Viacom’s cable and satellite channel, Nickelodeon, has been in the news quite a bit lately. The recent popularity surge in its’ nightly ‘TeenNick’ programming block, The Splat, has given Nickelodeon the jump it needs to produce more content. Nickelodeon found its’ original audiences in the mid-1990s with shows like Ren and Stimpy and Rocko’s Modern Life. As time would have it, that former audience is now full-grown adults, many with families. Nickelodeon and Viacom are well aware of their modern audience, as such, it appears that the time for series revivals in full swing.
President of the content development and production group for Nickelodeon, Russel Hicks, states:
“Kids who grew up on these characters are now of the age that they are having kids and families themselves…Our library has come to fruition and it’s time for it to start coming back to life.”
