Hideo Kojima, one of the legends of the gaming space. From making the Metal Gear Solid series a staple of the gaming world today to getting on the Summer Game Fest stage to talk about Death Stranding and 9/11 (yes, I know not that 9/11), he’s a legend of a man, and his company holds to that. Kojima Productions blasted through the door with the ever-popular Death Stranding, though has been particularly quiet regarding future projects. That is, until today. Hideo Kojima earlier today spoke with Famitsu, teasing two new projects that the team is currently working on with very vague terms. With that being said, a few interesting things were revealed.
The main area worth focusing on is that they’re working on a “big” project, alongside a “new, challenging” project. Now while this may not seem like anything on paper, the wording is very careful and indicates a rough idea of what to expect. The “new, challenging” project indicates were looking at a brand new IP that hasn’t been seen thus far. This means something new out of the crazed mind of Kojima is on the way. Meanwhile, though, the “big” project sounds like a sort of potential sequel, perhaps to Death Stranding as it’s the immediate first title from the team at Kojima Productions. With that being said though, that’s merely speculation and should be taken as such.
Regardless, Hideo Kojima’s comments regarding the future projects of Kojima Productions do raise some interesting questions and get theorycrafters going. We don’t currently know more, but when we do you can be sure that we’ll keep you posted. Meanwhile, you should take a look at many of the other interviews the team at Famitsu did this year. They do some fantastic reporting when it comes to non-western companies.
Regardless, what do you hope to see from Hideo Kojima’s Kojima Productions next? Perhaps a Death Stranding sequel? Let me know!
