As everyone has been saying Konami barring Hideo Kojima from receiving an award for Metal Gear Solid V at the Game Awards was needlessly petty. (Even our own Chris Dumal decided to comment on the affair.) Since the incident Kojima and much of his senior staff have left Konami to start their own studio, simply called Kojima Productions. They have just recently announced that they will be partnering with Sony and are working on their first major release.

Things appear to continue getting better for Hideo Kojima, as he is now scheduled to be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) Hall of Fame. Since he is no longer affiliated with Konami, the well-known pachinko machine manufacturer, they will be able to do nothing to bar him from receiving this honor in person.
The induction will take place at the DICE awards, which is set to take place between February 16th and 18th, with the actual induction happening on the 18th. The person presenting the award will be Hideo Kojima’s partner in crime on the much beloved and always missed project of Silent Hills, Guillermo Del Toro. As of now there is no official word on how or if the event will be live streamed.
