The former Xbox exclusive title High On Life is available now on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Originally launching exclusively on Xbox consoles and PC on December 13, 2022, Squanch Games’ latest title featured a unique blend of comedy and first-person shooting elements. Created by former Rick and Morty creator and actor Justin Roiland, who also voices characters in the game, High On Life is a comedic shooter that received mostly positive reviews at launch. It centers around a high schooler who gets wrapped up in an alien invasion and must team up with various talking guns to save humanity. No word was given about how long the title would remain an Xbox exclusive, but after several leaks, the game got a surprise drop on the platform this weekend.
Squanc Games studio director Mike Fridley announced in a press release that “The fans have spoken. And spoken. And spoken. We’ve been thrilled with High On Life‘s reception since it launched in December. Our PlayStation fans have been slightly less thrilled, which is why we’re so excited to share that it’s coming their way very soon. Like now, soon! Thank you for your patience!”
The announcement was also accompanied by a brand new launch trailer, which notably does not include Justin Roiland’s voice. Between the game’s original launch and this port, Roiland was embroiled in many legal issues surrounding his personal life, including a felony domestic battery and false imprisonment charge. While these charges were dismissed, he still had removed himself from Squanch Games and was fired from his role working on Rick and Morty. In the latter project, we know he will be replaced, and it seems as though the same may be true for his role in High On Life as well.
Other notable voices that will be in the game include J.B. Smoove, Betsy Sodaro, Tim Robinson, and many more. You can pick up High On Life now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and of course, Xbox consoles and PC today.
