Campaign season in the US congressional elections started hot and on fire; in the case of Texas Republican (GOP) candidate Valentina Gomez, quite literally. That’s because in Gomez’s latest campaign ad for Texas, she brandished a flamethrower and used it to burn down a Quran in someone’s backyard while also effectively calling for a Crusade against Islam. The video has since gone viral for its incendiary takes and perhaps the wrong reasons:
Right off the bat, you can hear the 26-year-old Gomez warning everyone that, “Your daughters will be r*ped & your sons beheaded, unless we stop Islam once and for all,” before reducing a Quran to ashes using a flamethrower. Apparently, this is part of her campaign, and it appears one of her platforms is to eradicate Islam in Texas, implying that she’d also be using violence to do so.
Gomez continues her rant amid the “Hallelujah” chants, vowing to either deport or somehow kick out Muslims in the US, “those terrorist Muslims can f*** off to any of the 57 Muslim nations, there is only one true god, which is the God of Israel.” It’s not clear whether Gomez also means to spite Saudi Arabia, a Muslim nation that’s also a major ally of the US, or just the likes of Iran (and maybe Palestine), Iran being a Muslim nation that the US bombed recently.
In any case, Gomez was also proud to claim that her campaign is “Powered by Jesus Christ.” Her rather fierce campaign has since sparked off a debate online, and it certainly caught the attention of the internet.
People are Questioning Gomez’s Campaign
Plenty of viewers were left stunned with raised eyebrows at Gomez’s advocacy. Some Texans even wondered whether Islam or Muslims are actually problems within the state, as to necessitate whatever Gomez was calling for, which, for many, sounded like a Crusade from the Middle Ages.

Other people pointed out the massive irony in Gomez’s campaign since she kept calling for violence in the name of the most peaceful Christian figure ever. Gomez’s ethnicity also became a subject of argument against her since she’s of Hispanic descent, and Hispanic people in the US are common targets for ICE’s unjust deportations and kidnappings, something Gomez wanted to do to Muslim people.

For the record, Gomez has been a rather popular far-right candidate, well-known for her inflammatory rhetoric, such as the one above. It’s also worth noting that Gomez actually lost in Missouri back in 2024 and is now trying her hand in the Texas Congress. Some have compared her to Ted Cruz, who is also a Hispanic candidate who has had a lot of success in his Republican leanings.
