IO Interactive, the developer of the popular Hitman games, is teasing their next project.  The announcement will be made on their YouTube channel tomorrow, November 19. The teaser, published on their Twitter account, highlights that the announcement will happen at 6 a.m. PST and 9 a.m. EST.  There are possibilities this new project is about the partnership between IO Interactive and Warner Bros Games made last year.

Rumors circulated earlier this year that AT&T was looking to sell off Warner Bros., but those seem to have quelled for now. Warner Bros. Games have the rights to the Batman, Lego, and Mortal Kombat games.

IO Interactive and WB Games have previously collaborated on past Hitman games, including Hitman 2 and Hitman HD Enhanced Collection. Along with the Hitman games, IO Interactive is also the developer behind the cult classics Kane and Lynch, Freedom Fighters, and Mini Ninjas.  This new project could be a new Freedom Fighters game, as they regained the rights to that and Hitman in 2017.

The world of assassination franchise has hit peaks and valleys over the years. However, it is enjoying a consistent record with the recent revivals.  IO Interactive will also develop and publish Hitman 3 for PC, current, and next-gen consoles.

Something worth noticing is whether or not IO Interactive will play with their release formats again.  The new Hitman was first released on an episodic basis, but for Hitman 2 they returned to a traditional release structure.

Development History Includes Hitman, Freedom Fighters

Given this is for a new announcement, it will more than likely be a while before this new project comes to fruition.  Whatever the case, it would be nice to see IO Interactive try something new outside of their scope. To learn more about IO Interactive and their new project, click here.
