One of the number one public enemies of US citizens and residents appears to be HOAs. We won’t deny that some are busy, while others have a lot of free time on their hands. For example, this HOA in Utah prefers to set new rules that would turn the neighborhood into a child-free zone. Not only does this HOA ban children, but it is also trying to ruin the fun for kids and many others.
Redditor ponyloverr shared on a subreddit how their HOA sent out an email stating that anyone who paints the sidewalk with chalk must clean it up the same day. Chalk drawings cannot be left any longer, and the email even said, “Otherwise, this may be prohibited in the future.” This is a clear move by this Utah HOA against children. Understandably, neighborhoods look better when they are clean, regularly maintained, and tidy. However, children are part of what brings life to a neighborhood. This includes laughter in the parks, bicycles on the streets, and sidewalks painted with chalk.
‘During Covid height, we walked the neighborhood to get exercise. Some kids about a mile away had a nice black driveway that sloped up. The driveway was like an art billboard as you walked up the hill. It always had pictures and good messages like “be safe”, “get well” “love” “schools in here” and random drawing. We always enjoyed seeing it. The kids have now grown past the chalk age, but another home has started to come onboard down the street‘ explained Questions_Remain with some nostalgia in their words.
However, many users believe that if chalk is a problem for the HOA, more issues may arise later in their “rules.”
‘In addition, please be advised that perpetuating the Santa myth with your young children will not be tolerated. We appreciate your understanding that any suggestion of a delivery means that involves landing a sleigh on the roof will significantly increase our insurance premiums. And after a closed Board meeting, we have decided to add ice cream, bicycles, and dolls to our list of items prohibited from the home’s interior. To appeal this process, collect a minimum of six ounces of freshly shed tears from your children in the sample vial included. The answer will still be no, but at least it will give your child something to do for an afternoon’ joked Edith_Keelers_Shoes.
The following comments continued to mock the HOA. The redditors made more jokes about the HOA wanting to ban celebrations and even make the neighborhood boring.
