How To Unlock Avada Kedavra (Killing Curse) In Hogwarts Legacy

During your adventure at the wizarding school inย Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll learn plenty of fantastical spells that your professors believe will be useful for your studies. However, there are several incantations of the Dark Arts heavily frowned upon, such as Avada Kedavraโ€”the “killing curse.” As its name implies, thisย Unforgivable Curseย is an “insta-kill” of sorts that sends its victim straight into the afterlife with no resistance. Seeing how the lands ofย Hogwarts Legacyย are full of monsters, Goblins, and even evil people who are better off sent to oblivion, Avada Kedavra might come in use for your journey.ย 

How To Get the Avada Kedavra Curse in Hogwarts Legacy

While you typically learn spells from the boarding school’s faculty, your fellow classmate and friend Sebastian has knowledge of the forbidden Dark Arts. That said, Sebastian can teach you Avada Kedavra in Hogwarts Legacy during the Relationship Quest, “In the Shadow of the Relic.” This quest becomes available after you’ve completed “In the Shadow of Hope,” which is the sixth friendship mission you’ll embark on during Sebastian’s questline. Additionally, you’ll need to have cleared the prerequisite Main Quest, “Lodgok’s Loyalty.” 

No worries if you’ve not yet reached this point in Sebastian’s story; we’ll not spoil anything for you. In short, “In the Shadow of the Relic” involves helping your classmate search for a relic to help his sister get better. However, things don’t go exactly as planned, and Sebastian is forced to cast Avada Kedavra. After exploring the relic’s catacombs, you’ll speak with Sebastian to unlock the killing curse in Hogwarts Legacy.

We should note that you have a choice of whether you’d like to learn Avada Kedavra from Sebastian. If you say, “Now is not the time,” you won’t unlock the curse during the quest but can meet your fellow student later on in the Undercroft for another chance. Do make sure you make your decision before the end of his questline, though. To recap, here’s what you need to do to get Avada Kedavra:

  1. 1. Complete “Lodgok’s Loyalty” in the Main Questline

  2. 2. Clear “In the Shadow of Hope” in Sebastian’s Relationship Questline

  3. 3. Finish “In the Shadow of the Relic”

    Say “Yes please,” during the dialogue choice at the end of the quest.
