One challenging open-world puzzle you’ll encounter in the Hogwarts Valley region of Hogwarts Legacy is the Keenbridge Merlin Trial. As its name suggests, it’s a Merlin Trial near Keenbridge, a small town in the region’s center. Whether you’re a clever witch or wizard skilled in the Dark Arts, this Merlin Trial has stumped many adventurers on their journey. Like many puzzles in Hogwarts Legacy, the Merlin Trial by Keenbridge offers little guidance to players regarding its solution.

To solve the Keenbridge Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Legacy, you must move a giant stone ball across the village bridge. After activating the puzzle with Mallowsweet Leaves, you must find the large orb and relocate it with your spells. For reference, this is one of the Hogwarts Valley Merlin Trials and is located up the river, north of South Sea Bog.

The stone ball of Keenbridge spawns next to the tree directly behind the NPC vendor Fatimah Lawang. She’s a potioneer who sells resources like Leech Juice and Lacewing Flies. The Merlin Trial requires you to cast magical spells to move the ball from Keenbridge’s western side to the bridge.

Initially, you might attempt the puzzle with your basic cast combo or Depulso. Such a strategy could enable you to gradually push the orb over the wooden ramp and through the village. However, we recommend you progress through the main campaign until you have the opportunity to unlock Wingardium Leviosa.

This spell will allow you to move the stone ball of the Keenbridge Merlin Trial without touching the ground. You can get this spell by completing Professor Garlick’s Assignment 1. The quest involves using a Venomous Tentacula and Mandrake in combat. After clearing the assignment, you can return to Keenbridge with the spell. For clarification, here’s a list of steps you can follow to achieve the Merlin Trial solution:

  1. Unlock Wingardium Leviosa.
  2. Fast-travel to the Keenbridge Floo Flame.
  3. Examine the rear of the tree behind Fatimah Lawang.
  4. Cast Wingardium Leviosa on the stone ball and carry it to the bridge by the river.
  5. Passing between the bridge’s stone pillars, cross to the opposite side.
  6. Check the field on the left for a round, sunken pit.
  7. Drop the ball into the pit to complete the Merlin Trial in Hogwarts Legacy.
