In California, a woman who recently went to a Honda dealership to purchase a vehicle says she instead found herself in an uncomfortable and distressing situation after a salesman allegedly pressured her to go out with him. According to the woman, the incident took place at MetroHonda Montclair, where she and her sister had gone together that day.
Once inside the dealership, the salesman they were working with allegedly began making remarks that crossed professional boundaries. In footage the woman secretly recorded and later shared on TikTok, the man can be heard implying that her agreeing to go on a date with him was part of the “entrance fee” to completing the deal. He also appeared to suggest that her refusal would determine whether or not she would be allowed to purchase a vehicle.
‘This Is a Serious Matter’
Although the salesman’s tone came across as lighthearted and his comments were delivered in a way that could be dismissed as joking, the woman said she did not experience it that way and instead felt harassed by his behavior.
Her sister, who was seated beside her throughout the interaction, eventually stepped in and confronted the man directly. She told him that his comments were not funny, not appropriate, and that her sister had come to the dealership to buy a car — not to be propositioned. “This is a serious matter,” the sister said during the exchange. “We’re talking about buying a car. We’re talking about finances.”
Rather than immediately acknowledging the concern, the salesman reportedly tried to downplay the situation by repeatedly insisting that he was “just joking” and urging the two women to relax. The sister made it clear that she did not find the comments amusing and described his behavior as rude and disrespectful.
For a brief moment, it appeared that the interaction had returned to business after the argument died down.
‘Prices Went Up’ After the Dispute
Things escalated again later in the video when the salesman stood up from his desk and offered to get both women a drink. It remains unclear what was said in that moment, but the man suddenly accused one of them of calling him “crazy.”
When both women denied making the remark, the salesman responded by telling them that “prices went up,” apparently believing that he had been insulted.
At one point, the salesman switched to speaking in Spanish. According to the woman, he said something along the lines of, “I don’t like wasting time because I’m here until 10 and you guys are not.” She alleged that he then added that he could only get them the price they wanted if she agreed to go out on a date with him, and that if she refused, the deal was off.
In response, the woman and her sister chose to leave the dealership without purchasing a car.
Netizens React to the California Honda Incident
The video has since gone viral, racking up more than 4 million views, with many netizens reacting strongly to what they saw. Several people were shocked that the salesman had tried to play off his comments as a joke. “This wasn’t a joke at all. He was harassing you,” one person wrote. Another said, “He wasn’t joking, he was very persistent for so long. I would’ve asked for a new salesman.” A third even raised serious safety concerns, writing, “Scary cause he has your personal info, home address on DL.”
Someone else commented, “Bro wanted her to buy a car and then take him on a date 😭💀.” Another begged, “Girl PLEASE tell me you are going to press charges!”
