One of the material requirements needed to upgrade Aloy’s Oseram Wayfarer Outfit in Horizon Forbidden West is two Widemaw Tusks, the incisors of a Widemaw. The Widemaw is a tanky, amphibious machine that resembles the real-world hippopotamus. It has a large mouth that can be used to vacuum up resources and attack its prey. Within its jaw sits two Widemaw Tusks that can only be obtained by detaching the part from the metallic beast. If Aloy slays the machine before removing the tusks, the components will be destroyed, making Widemaw Tusks a rare and challenging resource to acquire. As a result, players must prioritize tearing away the tusks before taking down the Widemaw.

Widemaw Tusks Guide For Horizon Forbidden West
To get Widemaw Tusks in Horizon Forbidden West, players must wait until the machine opens its jaw, as it is the only opportunity when the tusks are vulnerable. The Widemaw will often open its mouth whenever Aloy is close enough to strike by either using its sucking ability or a biting attack.
Within the small window of the Widemaw revealing its jaw’s interior, Aloy will have an opportunity to shoot off the rare components from its mouth. It is highly recommended that players take advantage of Aloy’s concentration skills since slowing time is an effective strategy for breaking the tusks. Ammunition that does Tear Damage, such as Tear Precision Arrows, will undoubtedly work best in this situation.
The map of Horizon Forbidden West has two specific locations where players can find Widemaws to harvest their tusks. One Widemaw Site can be found on the southwestern side of the world, across the river from a Leaplasher Site. Specifically, go directly south from where the “Hades in Hell” Hologram is located to find the Widemaws. Another Widemaw Site sits to the west of the Jagged Deep Rebel Outpost.
