For fans anticipating Horizon Forbidden West, it looks like they’ll have to wait a little longer. In a PlayStation blog post, it’s stated that the game will arrive in 2022. It won’t be too far into next year, however. The official Horizon Forbidden West release date is February 18, 2022.

The post also explains some of the reasons why it will release next year. They acknowledge that the COVID-19 pandemic affected their production of the game. They mention that it was important “keeping our teams safe and prioritizing a healthy work/life balance.” It looks like they figured out a way to do that with Horizon Forbidden West releasing in just a few months.

Horizon Forbidden West’s Story, and What We Know So Far

aloy in Horizon Forbidden West

The sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West continues the story of the first game. It will also see the return of protagonist Aloy. In the new game, Aloy must deal with a dangerous plague that threatens her world. To know more about it, she must leave Utah. Aloy will have to venture into the West Coast and discover the secrets hidden there.

The first game in the series, Horizon Zero Dawn was released in 2017. Centuries into the future, society has fallen. People have adapted and have formed tribes. Aloy is a part of the Nora tribe, and she’s trying to discover her past. This leads her on an adventure that changes her life forever.

The Developer Behind the Game

Horizon Forbidden West is being developed by Guerrilla Games, a developer that has 20 years of experience. They developed the first game in the series, but their resume goes beyond that. They were the developing team behind the Killzone series. They’re also a part of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios.

The Horizon Forbidden West release date is set for February 18, 2022, and we’re eagerly awaiting the game’s arrival. Check out other gaming news such as Call of Duty: Vanguard Gameplay Trailer Revealed and Marvel’s Midnight Suns Announced at Opening Night Live.
