Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Squid Games event is finally here, and we’re playing Red Light, Green Light with Young-Hee in Warzone; isn’t that something? It’s a crossover we didn’t ask for, but it’s not ruining the experience either. However, there are a bunch of new items that come with the Squid Games crossover in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, including a controversial Event Pass with a Premium upgrade, which I think isn’t a big deal, is it?
Just like Destiny and Fortnite, Call of Duty has brought forth a mini-Battle Pass for its new Squid Games event. Now this new in-game tracker has 2 parts, one gives free items to players spending time and earning XP, and the other gives exclusive rewards to players who spend time and 1100 CP to purchase the Premium Pass.
The image above shows exactly what you earn by playing the free version or losing a bit of money for more rewards. However, I don’t see anything pay-to-win or super stylish in the Squid Games Premium Pass in Black Ops 6 and Warzone. It’s a simple choice, and we have free will, remember? If I don’t like these or don’t see it necessary to add another Saug blueprint, which isn’t even a meta SMG in the game right now, to my arsenal, I just don’t buy it.
Over on X, users are going wild about this recent update in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, calling Call of Duty a cash-grab again over a Premium Pass. Now I don’t go against the fact that Call of Duty is going absurd on adding microtransactions to its games, but honestly, you’re just fine by purchasing a Battle Pass only. I’ve been playing the game with my Warzone 1 Battle Pass CPs for 4 years now, and I haven’t missed a gun or an extra item in all the games in recent years. Much better than the loot box system of the old CoDs.
The thing is that these cosmetic bundles and premium items are not something that push me to buy them. And while I get my free items that actually add to my in-game experience like the new melee weapon and the 2XP tokens, I’m good. The paid bundles in this game are nothing but extras, at least for now, which I don’t encourage anyone not to buy but I’m telling you, nobody’s pointing a gun to our head to drop cash on them.
