With all of the tragedy and news swirling about multiple air catastrophes, you can’t blame flight passengers for being a bit paranoid and jumpy. Despite being one of the safest ways to travel, none of that matters if you’re strapped in a plane as it’s free-falling from the sky. Houston passengers on a flight from Texas were looking to bail from their flight as soon as a bit of fire and smoke erupted before takeoff.
According to local news affiliates Fox26 Houston, a flight from Houston to New York had to be evacuated after an apparent engine issue forced the pilots to abort takeoff. Now, that sure is one way to spin the narrative, but a video from a passenger clearly shows a lot of smoke and fire coming from one of the engines under the plane wing, which caused a bit of panic onboard, to say the least.
In the short video, you can hear the flight attendants asking passengers to remain seated while an angry passenger shouts, “NO, IT’S ON FIRE,” and the murmurs of an inpatient crowd start to grow. Understandably so, it’s hard not to panic considering the local news and seeing an actual wing on fire surely doesn’t help.
On the r/texas Reddit thread, some folks didn’t have much positive vibes to coincide with the harrowing news.
“Where are the airline companies in all of this?”
“It’s almost like firing most of the FAA isn’t working out well.”
“It has definitely been a s***show for aviation lately.”
Nobody was harmed, and everybody was safely evacuated from the planes, but one can’t help but wonder what’s really going on with all of these aviation incidents popping up left and right lately.
