ICE agents have few, if any, rules to follow when it comes to making an arrest. Chicago has recently taken the brunt of police brutality. A new video recently surfaced from a Ring camera that blurs the line between “legal” and “lawlessness.”
In the footage, you can see several men working in the yard of a private residence. They appear to be part of a landscaping or construction company. Several of them are wearing face masks while working, and the video shows them doing nothing out of the ordinary. After several seconds, an unmarked black SUV comes to a sudden stop outside the residence.
While one man watches from the gate of the property, an ICE agent steps out of the car. Once the man realizes what’s happening, he shouts to the others. They all begin running toward the back of the property, with one man jumping over the fence to escape. Then, ICE agents apprehend two men without cause, handcuffing them and leading them back to the car. “Calm down,” and “shut up” can be heard on the video’s audio.
After the video was posted in the Illinois Reddit thread, viewers were disgusted by what they saw. One user said, “Been going on for months now. Only once every non-voter is personally affected can change happen. It’s absolutely BS fascism, and it kills me that people are still asleep. ICE and its leaders need to be disbanded and sentenced.” Another questioned the legality of it, saying, “How are they allowed to snatch people off private property without even asking questions? They have no idea who those people are, and now they’re in custody for absolutely nothing?”
One Reddit user responded, answering everyone’s questions in only five words: “Because the point is fear.” Another replied, summing up the current state of ICE in America, saying, “Terrorists don’t ask permission.”
