There’s nothing worse than discovering something you’ve been giving to your children is actually incredibly dangerous for them. Most everything has a label with ingredients and materials listed on it, but sometimes, you still need to dig a little deeper. That’s exactly what an Illinois man did after his daughter complained of headaches for two whole weeks.
The only thing that had changed in her regular routine was the brand of toothpaste she was using, Tom’s. After doctors and nurses couldn’t come up with a reason for her sickness, he decided to check her toothpastes for lead, and was shocked to find out what the results came back to conclude.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @humangenerated, which is run by a man named RJ who typically posts about his family, travelling, and living his best life. Unfortunately, this video goes off the rails a little bit. His daughter had been suffering from headaches over the last two weeks and was consistently very sick.
He explains that he sent her to the doctor’s and even had to see her school’s nurse several times with no explanation as to why. RJ took this as a sign to take things into his own hands and purchased a lead testing kit. He reportedly tested the toothpaste his daughter had been using, a brand known as Tom’s, only to find his fears were confirmed.
The toothpaste allegedly came back positive for lead, which would explain all of the symptoms his daughter had been suffering from. Now, RJ urges other parents not to purchase the same toothpaste for fear of their children also using it.
Illinois Man Tests Daughter’s Toothpaste for Lead
Commenters were just as shocked at this revelation, with many even wondering how the toxin could have possibly gotten in the toothpaste, with one person saying, “How does lead end up in EVERYTHING we learn DECADES AGO it’s terrible for us.” Another commenter was a little more curious as to what the benefit of adding lead to toothpaste would even be, saying, “why would they need to ADD LEAD to toothpaste? what benefit would it have?“
RJ has not made any updates concerning the toothpaste or his daughter’s well-being, but it is certainly scary to think that this is something that could happen to your own children. Hopefully, his family is able to get a few answers now that they allegedly have a test that proves the lead was in the toothpaste.
