Just a week before Destiny 2’s Into the Light release, Bungie gave us a quick sneak peek at something called Pantheon that would be releasing on April 30th. While we’ve received loads of new things to learn about and spend our time on in-game during the Into the Light free update, it’s still pretty unique that we get something so intriguing and different from the usual mechanics of the game we know and love. However, Pantheon definitely looks like something that will be rather enjoyable for some of the more advanced Guardians and veterans. Pantheon gives us a chance to face off against raid bosses in a whole new way. Let’s take a look at what exactly Pantheon is in Destiny 2 and how it works.
What Is Pantheon in Destiny 2? Answered
In essence, Destiny 2’s Pantheon is a way for Guardians to take on raid bosses in weekly challenges that increase in difficulties and rewards. In simpler terms, it’s a Raid boss gauntlet that allows you to fight a series of boss encounters from previous Raids in Destiny 2 and have the chance to earn new rewards, as well as prove your worthiness against wildly difficult bosses.
For each consecutive week for a total of four weeks, a new difficulty will unlock, as well as additional encounters to take on with Pantheon. In the first week, you’ll have four boss encounters, whereas by the fourth week, you’ll have to take on all 8 of the Pantheon bosses.
Within each Pantheon run, you’ll need to complete consecutive encounters and rack up scores similar to the way that you would get points toward your score in Nightfall. The higher your score, the more rewards you will obtain. If you and your Fireteam can manage to achieve a Platinum score, you’ll get the most rewards possible.
When Will Pantheon End?
Pantheon is a temporary activity for now, but it will possibly come back in the future. Pantheon is only active from April 30th to June 4th, when The Final Shape releases. After that, Bungie hasn’t released a specific timeframe on when we should expect Pantheon to be back in Destiny 2, so for now, we just need to wait.
Destiny 2 is now available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
