Have you ever found yourself missing the new sitcom experience, or going back to watch a favorite? For me, that favorite has always been How I Met Your Mother. There are so many things, Barney Stinson aside, that make that show a legend. Fans of the show may be aware that a spin-off named How I Met Your Father has been in the works at Hulu. Though the series has been in development hell for years and restarted more than once, we finally have something. The season one trailer for How I Met Your Father premiered recently on Youtube!
What Does How I Met Your Father Have Planned?
The trailer for How I Met Your Father starts on a poignant note. The mother, who we find out is named Sophie (played by Hillary Duff), muses at how hard it was living in 2022. She goes on to talk about how the Tinder and online dating experience has made it hard for people to connect. Just like before, we will be treated to a re-telling of the story from down the line. However, this older Sophie fits the part! In HIMYF’s predecessor, Bob Saget played the role of Josh Radnor’s older Ted. It didn’t match his voice or journey well, but at least it sounded cool. This time, we have Kim Cattrall playing a much more fitting mother.
According to the trailer, the main focus of the series will indeed be the modern dating experience. Multiple times throughout the trailer we see satirical moments of Tinder dates gone wrong. It’s sure to be a nice change of pace from the original since it began before these mediums were even a thing. The show boasts the same realistic yet hilarious views on dating. This is likely because series creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays are executive producers. It will even have Josh Peck as a potential love interest, so quite the nostalgic cast!
How I Met Your Father is another Hulu original comedy, similar to critically-acclaimed Only Murders In This Building. The first season is expected to be ten episodes. It will premiere directly on Hulu on January 18, 2022. Here’s to another nine years of comedic dating shenanigans!
