Kat Timpf discovers she has breast cancer just hours before welcoming new baby, recounting the traumatizing ordeal on social media. The Fox News contributor first announced her pregnancy in July, marking the first for her and husband Cameron Friscia. However, the birth of the newborn did not play out in the joyous way she’d envisioned. Taking to social media on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the 36-year-old revealed the beautiful and the ugly encounters she faced leading up to her child’s birth.
In the lengthy post, which she called an unconventional birth announcement, Kat Timpf revealed that doctors diagnosed her with breast cancer just fifteen hours before she went into labor. In her usual comical way, the Fox News contributor encouraged fans not to worry as her doctor said her cancer was “stage 0,” and was confident it hadn’t spread. The TV personality admitted that knowing those details did not make it any easier to deal with. She recalled,
“I woke up more than a week past due pregnant, completely consumed by doing everything I could to get the baby out. By the middle of the afternoon, I was waddling around from appointment to appointment, talking about how to get my cancer out.”

During the appointment, Kat Timpf learned she may have to undergo a double mastectomy as soon as possible, as the best course of action. However, before she could fully wrap her head around her new reality and how it could possibly alter the life she knew, the Gutfeld! panelist went into spontaneous labour that same night.
Kat Timpf’s Miraculous Birth Amid Diagnosis of Breast Cancer
Ultimately, Kat Timpf willed herself to focus on her new baby, despite the thought of the newly-diagnosed breast cancer lurking in her subconscious. Thankfully, she safely welcomed a son at the hospital, admittedly discovering his gender for the first time after his birth. The new mom credited dark humor with helping her through the traumatic situation, with the hospital staff making for excellent audience as she dealt with her bitter-sweet reality. She reflected,
“The good news? People who work at hospitals make excellent audiences for dark humor. And as someone whose first book was about the power of jokes to get through traumatic situations, there was really no better place for me to be, Just minutes after my boy was born, I was talking with the nurses about what a birth announcement in my situation look like.”
Admittedly, Kat Timpf considered unconventional baby announcements like “Mom and baby are doing well, except maybe for mom’s cancer,” as well as “The baby after breastfeeding is stunned by her double mastectomy.” Timpf also considered shutting off her phone for a week after dropping the shocking baby news on the world, to enable her to process things on her own terms.
Timpf Embraces Her New Reality
After giving it much thought, the Fox News contributor, Kat Timpf decided to face her new reality head on. Even in her trying moments, she has learned to appreciate the things she could, and celebrate the slightest win. More importantly, the new mom has come to the realization that her son, to her, was a life-saving blessing given the circumstances surrounding his miraculous birth. She penned,
“These next three months of maternity leave are going to look lot different than I’d anticipated, and I’m still getting used to my new reality. Still, as I navigate new motherhood, (and new cancer). I’m learning to celebrate everything I can. I’m lucky to be my son’s mom. I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules, and not just because he might have saved my life.”
Timpf concluded her post by appreciating everyone for their “support, laughter and love” as she embraces her unexpected chapter. Since sharing her devastating cancer news and baby announcement, Kat Timpf has received an outpouring of love from fans and co-stars, including her Fox News family. Many pledged their undying support to her as she scales through this phase of her life, hoping to emerge on the other side in one piece. Here’s to hoping the media personality experiences a smooth post-baby journey even as she navigates cancer and new motherhood.
