V is the codename for the player character you create in Cyberpunk 2077. As what is essentially a blank canvas for players to project themselves onto, most of the intricate details about V are filled in by yourself. That includes the character’s physical appearance and gender. While V can physically look like anyone, the character’s youthful appearance has made some gamers question the character’s age. Here’s what we know about how old V is in Cyberpunk 2077.
You can fully customize V to be anyone you want in Cyberpunk 2077. However, the character’s backstory and age stay the same no matter how much you customize them. You can’t change V’s birthdate in the title. V’s backstory centers on them being a mercenary who crosses paths with the enigmatic Johnny Silverhands. You spend the game with Johnny in your mind and working for the shady people of Night City.
When you first invent V for the character creation, the character’s canonical birthdate can be witnessed in the top right corner. Originally, male and female versions of V had different birthdates. Female V was born on June 10, 2049, whereas Male V was born on October 12, 2049. However, the 2.0 patch changed both versions of V to be born on October 12, 2053.
The game supposedly takes place around April, meaning V should be 23 years old in Cyberpunk 2077. This makes V very young, much younger than you probably thought. While V looks youthful, given the cyberwar enhancements, it was plausible V was much older than they appear. But the character’s canonical birth year proves that V is meant to be a young adult, very much a rookie within the seedy underbelly of Night City.
