Although Sun Wukong must walk a lonely path as he attempts to restore his power in Black Myth: Wukong, you can gain some help from various Spirits you encounter. Once you complete the tutorial, you can explore the forest and mountain area where you can fight numerous Yaoguai. Although many of them are weak, you can also find some strong enemies that will turn into Spirits once you defeat them. If you want to absorb a Spirit, you must unlock the Guidance skill first from a friendly NPC.
Black Myth: Wukong Unlock Guidance Skill
To unlock the Guidance skill and absorb Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong by speaking with an unnamed friendly NPC. This man will appear inside the bamboo forest near the Snake Trail Keeper’s Shrine. You can access this area after defeating the first major boss Lingxuzhi. This Yaoguai King is located in an abandoned temple behind the Wandering Wight elite enemy.
Once you find the Keeper’s Shrine, you can take the stone stairs to your right. A cutscene will automatically play the moment you approach the sage. He will speak to you for a while and then place some magic on your gourd. Now, you have unlocked the Guidance skill and can absorb Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong.
The first Spirit you can absorb is the Wandering Wight in the previous area, but you can also find another one near the Snake Trail Keeper’s Shrine. Just go down into the river and follow it. You will eventually encounter a toad Yaoguai that you can defeat.
You can change your main Spirit from the main menu, but you need to visit a Shrine to upgrade it. Each Spirit has its own unique buff and abilities. Similar to the Red Tides mode, you also need to gather Qi if you want to transform into a Spirit. You can gather this energy by attacking enemies, but unlike Red Tides, you will only shift for a moment so your Spirit can use its Signature Abilities.
