Dwarf Fortress: How to Appoint Priests
There are a couple of things you’ll have to tackle before jumping right into appointing a priest in your fortress. To begin with, your dwarves will require a temple for their specific deity. They’ll ask for you it.
Once you’ve build a temple for your dwarves’ deity, you’ll need to decorate your temple. Your dwarves will be much happier with a well-outfitted temple that had decent quality furniture and ornaments. You should be aiming for a room Value of at least 2,000 or more.
After you’ve reached at least 2,000 room Value, you can appoint one single dwarf that follows that deity to be a priest for your new temple. This role can be found under the Nobles & Administrators menu.
You may find that even after you’ve raised your room Value up to 2,000, you still cannot appoint a dwarf to be your priest. The first thing you should do in this situation is check out the size of that religion’s following. In order to appoint a priest, your religion needs to have at least 10 followers.
As you acquire more religions and more temples, you’ll have to follow the same steps:
- Build a Temple
- Ensure that your Temple’s room Value is at least 2,000 or more
- Ensure that you have at least 10 followers for that specific religion
- Appoint a priest
After some time, your religions will grow as well as your Temple, which will soon me a Temple Complex, where a High Priest is appointed. In order for this to happen, your Temple’s Value will have to be at least 10,000 and you’ll have to have 25 or more followers. At that point, your current priest can be promoted to a High Priest, and you can appoint a separate follower to replace the Priest’s prior position.
