Hogwarts Legacy is full of story and side bosses, but for the time being, only PlayStation players will be able to challenge Cassandra Mason. Her questline, Minding Your Own Business, is part of the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop side quest. In any case, whether you’re playing now or later and want to unlock the unique Shopkeeper’s Cosmetic Set and your shop in Hogsmeade, here we’ll break down how to beat this boss fight.
How to Beat Cassandra Mason in Hogwarts Legacy
(Updated on September 2024, 2024 – updated links and format)
The first thing to note is that you will be able to challenge Cassandra Mason quite early in the story. If you do so, you’re unlikely to have powerful spells that make the fight easier, which come in handy given that Cassandra likes to lift you into the air and start attacking until you can’t fight back. She throws stones and pumpkins that you’ll need to quickly dodge.
That all being said, she’s not that difficult to beat. You don’t really need a particular strategy to beat her; the fight should only take a couple of minutes, unlike harder boss encounters such as Theophilus Harlow.
First Phase
During the first phase, Cassandra uses only three simple spells. First, you should dodge the base spell to avoid losing your health early on. As we said earlier, she loves to throw rocks and pumpkins at you. You can dodge or use Ancient Magic Throw to throw the item back at the boss.
Also, Cassandra sometimes uses Confringo, which we recommend doing right back at her. By the way, don’t forget that Cassandra Mason teleports around the arena, so as soon as she disappears, step back so you can see her and notice her before you get shot in the back.
Second Phase
The second phase of the counter is fairly similar to the first. She’ll throw stones and pumpkins at you and use the basic attack spell. From now on, though, she also uses Levioso to lift you and immobilize you. While you’re in the air, there’s nothing you can do, but as soon as you’re free, immediately move to the side, as it’s likely that the stone is already flying at you. Again, follow the witch’s lead and use Levioso too.
One thing to keep in mind is that Cassandra will start casting Protego to protect herself. But you only need to use Ancient Magic Throw to break through the defense and deal damage again.
Unfortunately, defeating Cassandra Mason will not give you any direct loot as a reward. What it does do, though, is take you one step closer to new cosmetic items and your shop in Hogsmeade.
