Before you can challenge Louis, there are several optional fights and quests that you can accept to increase your level. One of the hardest boss fights you can attempt in Metaphor: ReFantazio is against Devourer of Nations at The Forsaken Tower. Like Devourer of Stars, this dragon is not something you can defeat with auto-battle. You need to use the best tactics, team compositions, and Archetypes if you want to have a slight chance of winning. Even then, it will be a long and grueling fight.

Like the Devourer of Stars boss fight in Metaphor: ReFantazio, Devourer of Nations won’t allow you to use repel or nullify magic. If you attempt to directly stop its damage, it will use an AoE magic that will kill your whole team.

One way to make this fight easier is by dodging the boss’ attack because it will immediately end its turn. That’s easier said than done, though. If you try to buff yourself, the dragon can remove your stat buff. In fact, it will even debuff your whole party.

Like all powerful enemies in this game, The Forsaken Tower boss doesn’t have any weakness. So feel free to hit the monster with anything except for fire-based attacks. However, using Almighty abilities is still the best method to deal significant damage to this enemy.

The boss has a variety of offensive abilities. It mostly uses physical attacks, but the Devourer of Nations can also use Fire, Ice, and Electric skills. That’s why you want to avoid using Archetype with these weaknesses. If you insist on bringing one, ensure that you equip them with an accessory that adds resistance to that weakness.

Here are the team comp you can consider using to beat The Forsaken Tower boss:

  • Prince – Protagonist
  • Savior – Eupha
  • Trickster – Junah
  • Warlord – Strohl

The Prince is arguably the best Archetype that you can unlock in the game. You definitely want to master it since you can unlock the Royal Slash ability. Although you can use this skill via Synergy, it will cost you two turns, which is not ideal for this fight.

Since the protagonist will be the main damage dealer, you also need a healer. Eupha has one of the highest magic stats, so her healing skill is very good. Besides using Medicall magic, you also want to add Samarecarm to her Inherited Skill. This will allow you to revive a fallen party member to full HP.

Junah will be the Trickster, whose job is to debuff Devourer of Nations. Preferably, she’ll need to go before the protagonist so she can use Debilitate on Devourer of Nations. Once the dragon is weakened, you can deal more damage using Royal Slash.

Although the boss can remove your party buff, you can still consider buffing the protagonist’s attack during that turn. This Archetype is also useful since the Commander Lineage can use Megido, another Almighty ability.

For equipment, I recommend using accessories that allow you to resist Fire, Ice, and Electric magic. You can also consider buying an expensive igniter from Brigitta’s shop that lets its wearer use Almighty magic.
