Illegal Entry is the first mission of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. This mission has 621 set out in search of a license that will allow them to officially operate as a mercenary on Rubicon. The first steps of the mission are relatively simple, but by the time players reach the HC Helicopter boss, they’ll have no doubt they’re playing a FromSoftware game, even if they haven’t played the other games first. Here’s everything you need to know to get through Illegal Entry and take down the HC Helicopter.
Illegal Entry Mission Guide
Illegal Entry takes place in the Contaminated City of Southern Belius. Because it’s the first mission in the game, players can’t even use their own AC yet. Instead, players will use a default build equipped with an energy sword, kinetic rifle, and basic shoulder missiles. It’s a simple mech but more than serviceable for the mission at hand. To finish Illegal Entry, you’ll need to complete the following steps:
- As soon as the mission starts, proceed to the marked location and take down the MTs. They’re weak and will die with just a few shots.
- Experiment with movement and your weaponry while you can. Soon enough, you’ll be in situations that will test your developing skills. Proceed to the next area and take on the MTs. This is a good chance to test the multi-lock function of your missiles.
- Proceed to the catapult to launch yourself into the city.
- Use Assault Boost to rapidly close the distance on the Rubicon Liberation Front MTs. A couple of sword slashes and rifle shots will destroy the MTs, leaving you free to move on to the next stage of Illegal Entry.
- Handler Walter will ping the locations of three downed ACs to search. Approach them in whatever order you want.
- They’re guarded by MTs as well as flying drones. They aren’t strong, but they have the numbers advantage. Use missiles and take cover behind buildings if necessary. Then search the ACs for the required licenses.
- When you’re done, Handler Walter will ping the location of another wreck to search. Proceed to the fourth wrecked AC.
- The fourth wreck is high up on a building, but you can reach it by using the vertical launcher nearby. Scan the wreck, and a PCA Helicopter will appear.
How to Beat the First Armored Core 6 Boss
This boss is far more difficult than anything you’ve fought thus far in Illegal Entry. After all, this developer has built its reputation on difficult games. The Helicopter has a pair of forward-facing machine guns and fires swarms of light missiles. It also has a deceptive amount of armor, so building up its impact meter and landing critical hits is essential.
- It’s possible to take cover behind buildings and only emerge to attack, but that’s not the best strategy.
- Use your Assault Boost to close the distance, firing missiles and your rifle as you do so.
- Once you’re close, hit the Helicopter with your sword to build up the impact meter and leave the Helicopter vulnerable.
- The Helicopter can hit hard, so keep an eye on your AP and use Repair Kits when needed. Keep at it until the Helicopter is destroyed.
With Illegal Entry complete, you officially claim the codename “Raven” as your own. There’s no Battle Log to collect this mission. Now it’s time to get to work as a real mercenary in Armored Core VI.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on August 25.
