This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

After the fall of the Republic, crossing the swamp has become a dangerous activity due to the numerous monsters that roam this area. Our group of heroes is still chasing after Sephiroth and must enter the Mythril Mine and reach Junon. Since there is no boat, they manage to rent some Chocobos, which can safely take them across the swamp. Unfortunately, things go awry when they stumble on the sleeping Midgardsormr, and you must beat this deadly boss to continue your journey in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Midgardsormr Boss Fight Guide

Midgardsormr is the second major boss that you encounter in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and it will try its best to burn you to a crisp before eating you. Although this serpent lives in a swamp, it can cast Fire magic and is weak against Ice.

I highly recommend unlocking Ice elemental abilities, so you don’t need to spend Mana when attacking the boss’ weakness. For example, Cloud has the Snow Flurry skill, which can unleash an Ice magic attack that hits multiple times.

Best Team Composition

Here are the team members I used during Midgardsormr boss battle in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth:

  • Cloud – Snow Flurry
  • Tifa – Icy Impulse
  • Aerith – Blizzard and Cure

Cloud and Tifa are the main damage dealers in this battle since they have Ice abilities. On the other hand, Aerith can support the team by casting Blizzard and Cure. You can also link an Auto-Cast Materia to a healing Materia so she will restore HP even without your order.

If possible, you want to unlock your team’s Synergy Abilities since using these skills will instantly pressure Midgardsormr in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Bringing Shiva to this boss fight is also a great idea since this Summon has an Ice element.

You want to focus on attacking the Cranial Dome first because this appendage will increase Midgardsormr’s defense before it’s broken. The fight is very straightforward in the first phase, but things get a bit dicey when you enter the second phase. During this stage, you want to keep your distance from Midgardsormr because the serpent will start using Devour and Scorching Breath.

Sometimes, Midgardsormr will even trap one of your allies, and you must attack it with an Ice ability to make the boss let go. Another dangerous move is when the serpent dives into the water and disappears. To avoid getting hurt, you must keep moving and avoid the shadow in the water lest the monster emerge underneath you.
