Alright, gamers, it’s time to meet the Scorpion of the Shadow Realm; behold Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame. That’s if you manage to find him in the first place, of course. Midra is one of the new bosses introduced in Elden Ring: Shadow of The Erdtree, so you know it’s made to give your Tarnished warrior a rough time. There’s nothing nice about getting blasted with heavy blaze attacks, but the magma-head boss isn’t so unpredictable. With the right gear and some well-timed dodges, you stand a chance.

Where to Find Midra in Elden Ring: Shadow of The Erdtree

Midra rests in pain in a location called the Midra Manse near the Abyssal Woods. Tons of enemy soldiers, creatures, knights, and witches (holding books for some reason) stand in the way of you getting there. If you’re quick enough, though, you can just dodge them and go all the way through.

Once you’re in the Midra Manse, fighting some foes will be inevitable. From the main gate, go forward until you reach a ladder to the left side. Follow the route forward until you hear someone yelling “Nyaaargh” with a Grace site on the way. Onwards, you’ll reach a library on the first floor. Jump down, go towards the big painting on the wall that’s right under your feet, and spam attack to uncover a secret entrance.

From here, follow the way and climb the ladder, then pull the lever. After that, all you’ve got to do is jump down, move all the way forward, and dodge every single enemy on the way. You’ll find another Grace site, and then Midra in the Shadow of the Erdtree.

“The depth of your foolishness!” are the first words you hear, and then you’ll see a horrible cutscene where Midra pulls something skeletal out of his body and uses it to create a weapon. Ew.

The first stage of the Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame is a walk in the park. Before Midra transforms into an inferno demon, you can just two-tap him with your blade or Kung Fu skills. The rest of the show, however, is just you escaping the flames until you find an opening.

Here are all of Midra’s attacks in the Shadow of The Erdtree:

  • Laser Fire: This is Midra shooting fire while he walks slowly toward you. Easy drill; dodge behind him, and attack the boss to drain his HP.
  • Grapple: If you stay too close to Midra while attacking, he’ll try to catch you, draining a lot of health from your Tarnished. After you land successful attacks, dodge backward to stay away from danger.
  • Double Swing: Midra swings his sword twice, which you can easily dodge. Immediately counterattack.
  • Triple Blade Spin Attack: Midra swings his sword twice and then launches into an unpredictable spin. Due to the small rest window between the swings and the spin, you might think that you have the chance to attack. Don’t. Most Elden Ring bosses are known for having ticky attacks, and this is one of them.
  • Dashing Blow: If you take some distance from Midra, he’ll try reaching you with a spinning dash, giving you a small attacking window once you dodge successfully.
  • Triple Swing: This is the Triple Blade Spin attack, but instead of a spin, Midra only swings three times. If his last attack was a vertical swing, take the chance to show Midra the depth of his foolishness.
  • Ultimate Blow: If you hit Midra enough, he’ll fly high, and then smash the floor into lava. Not to worry about the fire after the attack; you only have to gain distance from the target once he’s about to smash. Also, don’t try attacking him after he’s done.
  • Flame Ball: Midra shoots a very short-range fireball that looks just like his head. No problemo; just stay away from him.
  • Aerial Hammer: If you take distance from the boss, he’ll jump toward you with a heavy attack, and then hit with a tricky second move. Dodge twice before countering.
  • Five Swing: Midra swings his sword three times, and just when you’re thinking he’s done, he goes for another two. Dodge backward or sideways, and you’re good to go.
  • Fire Blast: This might look scary, but it’s easy to dodge Midra while he uses this multi-projectile fire attack. Dodge twice, and that’s it. Don’t try attacking him after this move though; there’s a very small recovery window for it.
